*achievement unlocked!* - 35 points [left the house voluntarily]
Of course, that’s not the only thing I did. Once I left the house, I then had to get into my car, and go someplace.
Well, I went to a shopping centre and I bought things, because that’s what you do when you get paid. Apparently.
I mean, I bought things the other day… the new phone and all that jazz… but today was a bit different.
Today I bought boots, a *dress* [this is a big deal, just ask Husband] a purple scarf, some green nail polish and a new book.
Not an ebook, not an iTunes gift card to spend on iBooks, an actual, real, physical book, from a bookstore, brand new, nobody else has read it, ever.
The last time I remember actually buying a *new* book, with pages and a cover and all that jazz… was Deathly Hallows.
Five years. FIVE FUCKING YEARS since I bought a book from a bookstore that sells new books.
I mean, I’ve bought second-hand books at op-shops and garage sales, and yes I’ve spent a fortune on digital books with the iTunes gift cards that I got for Christmas, but this one… well.
I bought ‘The Fault in Our Stars’ by John Green, and I’m about ten pages in… and I think I might be in love.
I’ve never been happier to contribute directly to an authors’ royalty cheque, because this man is brilliant - he is all that I aim to be as a writer and a person.
So, yeah. That about sums up my day.
